Twilight

First off, I just want to say this is my own opinion, and I'm not bashing anyone who enjoyed these books or the movie.

The book...
I'll be honest, I was excited to read this book. Not only because of all the hype, but also because I wanted to really get into a great book. Call me a nerd, but I absolutely love new books. I'm a fan of shiny covers and that "new book scent" of the pages.
I begin reading. The first few chapters are kind of boring. Nothing is really grabbing my attention. I have no problem putting the book down. I tell my friend at work that that I don't see what is so great. She agrees and tells me it doesn't get much better. However, I want to give the book a fair chance so I keep on reading. It takes until page 385 (yes I said page 385) for something exciting to happen. I'm talking about the part where they play baseball during the storm and meet the bad vampires. Unfortunately, I am bored again after a few pages. This continues on and off until I turn the last page. I was disappointed.

The movie...
This movie made me giggle. The first thing I need to stress is I found the acting horrible! The whole time I was watching it reminded me of a TV movie. The characters were completely different than what I imagined while reading. This is a common faux pas when movies are created from books. I am sure they did the best they could? I questioned if any of them even read the book. Not only did the vampire characters disappoint, but so did the characters of Bella, her parents, and her friends as well. Perhaps I am too picky? Let's keep in mind though, this series is aimed at a younger generation so I believe my opinions to be fair.

If I had to choose one, I choose the book. I read New Moon as well (second of the series) and have to say, I have no desire to read the remaining two.

I am sorry Twilight lovers. I just wasn't impressed with Stephanie Meyer's writing, nor was I impressed with any of the acting.
